Google is launching a new cloud platform that lets people use advanced AI tools directly on their devices.
The best part? Your data stays private. This service works much like Apple’s Private Cloud Compute. It comes at a time when tech companies are balancing users’ privacy concerns with the heavy computing power needed for modern AI applications.
Google says that accessing extra processing power will let its AI do more than handle basic tasks. It will be able to provide smarter, more personalized suggestions tailored to each user.
Many of Google’s products, like translation, audio summaries, and chat assistants, already run AI directly on your device.
This means your data stays on your phone, Chromebook, or other devices. But Google warns this approach can’t keep up. Modern AI tools need far more computing power and complex reasoning than most devices can handle.
The solution is to send more complex AI tasks to a cloud platform called Private AI Compute.
Google calls it a “secure, fortified space” that keeps your data just as safe as it would be on your device. Sensitive information is accessible only to you—no one else, not even Google.
