YouTube officially introduced a significant expansion of its creative tools with a powerful generative AI model directly into YouTube Shorts. This new feature, called the Veo 3 Fast, has been announced at the ‘Made on YouTube 2025’ event.
Veo 3 Fast is a custom version of Google DeepMind’s most advanced video generation model, with which creators can create playful, effortless, and entirely free videos.
This AI integration into YouTube Shorts is a game-changer for short-form video creation, enabling creators to produce amazing AI-generated videos and enhance their YouTube channel growth.
The most remarkable feature of the Veo 3 Fast is that it can generate a video from a text prompt and simultaneously create a synchronized audio track. With this capability, creators can produce an immersive clip filled with sound effects, ambient noise, and even character dialogue. All these can be executed in a single step. Isn’t that amazing?

In the event, YouTube demonstrated an example video of a generative AI monkey. The Veo 3 Fast model not only created the visual of the monkey but also the corresponding audio, showcasing the seamless and integrated nature of the feature.
This AI model is optimized for the mobile-first environment of YouTube Shorts. It can generate videos at 480p resolution with lower latency, making it an ideal tool for quick ideation and direct video creation from a smartphone.
The company said that it aims to empower more people to become creators and experiment with their ideas without the need for complex software or hardware.
To access this feature, creators need to tap the ‘Create’ button and select the ‘Sparkle’ icon in the top right corner of the Shorts interface.
The Veo 3 Fast is currently rolling out in key markets including the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. YouTube has announced plans to expand the availability of the feature to a wider global audience in the coming months.
This latest development from YouTube resembles a larger push to embed advanced AI capabilities across its platform. In addition to Veo 3 Fast, YouTube launched other features like ‘Edit with AI’ which creates a polished first draft from raw camera roll footage, and “Speech to Song,” a tool that turns spoken dialogue into a catchy soundtrack, further solidifying YouTube’s commitment to innovation in the creator economy.
